“Together”
Understanding Our Role in the Body of Christ
As members of the body of Christ, we each play a unique role that contributes to the overall function of the church. Just like the intricate systems of the human body depend on one another for survival and efficiency, so too do we rely on each other within our faith community. Each individual is essential, with a purpose tailored by God. It is through our combined efforts that we create a vibrant expression of faith and love.
The Importance of Interdependence
Blood continuously courses through our bodies, providing life and sustenance to every part. In the same way, our contributions to the church foster growth and unity. When we recognize the importance of interdependence, we become more appreciative of the diverse gifts that each member brings to the table. By acknowledging and valuing each other’s strengths, we strengthen the bonds that unite us.
Embracing Change and Growth Together
It’s important to remember that our roles in the body of Christ may evolve over time. God’s calling is dynamic, requiring us to remain open to changes in our service and ministry. As we heed His call, we should express gratitude not only for our own gifts but also for those of others. There is incredible beauty in the unity of purpose, as we all strive to glorify God together.
In concluding, let us actively share the message of God’s love with one another. As Paul reminds us, we should not think too highly of ourselves but instead recognize the value in our collective efforts for the work of God. From the goodness inhabiting our hearts, we can accomplish extraordinary things together, fostering a community that reflects His glory.
How is God calling on you in this very day and in this very minute?
1st Scripture Reading
Psalm 124:1-8
If the Lord had not been on our side—
let Israel say—
2 if the Lord had not been on our side
when people attacked us,
3 they would have swallowed us alive
when their anger flared against us;
4 the flood would have engulfed us,
the torrent would have swept over us,
5 the raging waters
would have swept us away.
6 Praise be to the Lord,
who has not let us be torn by their teeth.
7 We have escaped like a bird
from the fowler’s snare;
the snare has been broken,
and we have escaped.
8 Our help is in the name of the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
2nd Scripture Reading
Exodus 2:1-10
Now a man of the tribe of Levi married a Levite woman, 2 and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him for three months. 3 But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile. 4 His sister stood at a distance to see what would happen to him.
5 Then Pharaoh’s daughter went down to the Nile to bathe, and her attendants were walking along the riverbank. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her female slave to get it. 6 She opened it and saw the baby. He was crying, and she felt sorry for him. “This is one of the Hebrew babies,” she said.
7 Then his sister asked Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?”
8 “Yes, go,” she answered. So the girl went and got the baby’s mother. 9 Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you.” So the woman took the baby and nursed him. 10 When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh’s daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses, saying, “I drew him out of the water.”
3rd Scripture Reading
Romans 12:1-8
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Serve God with Spiritual Gifts
3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. 4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; 7 or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; 8 he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
